Signs of an upturn — Alan Finlayson of Mechanex.

Mechanex UK of Glasgow has won the £1.1 million contract to install a heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system for the new customer-contact centre of John Lewis Partnership in Hamilton. This is one of two new customer-contact centres and is on Hamilton International Technology Park. It will create at least 250 jobs. Services design was by Lateral Technologies & Solutions.

Alan Finlayson, managing director of Mechanex, says that this project is the first large-scale fit-out in a business park in the greater-Glasgow area for some time and could herald an upturn in business confidence. Work is due to be completed by next May.

Hamilton International Technology Park is owned by HF Developments, and Mechanex has been involved in a number of similar fit-outs with the company over the last few years.
