Box-fan range incorporates EC motors and control system

Flakt Woods, fan, TwinBox

Flakt Woods’ latest box-fan range incorporates EC motors to achieve higher fan efficiencies and lower energy consumption — in line with Part L of the Building Regulations. The EC TwinBox product includes controls and features the company’s second-generation fan controller, which has a simplified control interface for easy installation and commissioning.

Air volumes up to 1.7 m3/s can be delivered against static pressures of up to 870 Pa. Motors have a soft-start function to increase reliability and extend life.

The integral control strategy can be customised to suit variable- or constant-pressure systems. Signals can be received from a range of sensors — including PIR, pressure, air-quality, temperature and humidity — to control the fan speed according to demand.

Sensors are supplied with 10 m of cable attached for wiring and terminating on site into a connection plug, which is fitted into the intelligent fan-control unit. There is no need for interconnecting wiring between sensors and their associated valves or from dampers at extraction points back to the fan.
