Self-builder enjoys support from Myson for installation of underfloor heating

All my own work — self builder Garry Watson is please with the underfloor heating system in his new home in Gateshead, installed with the help of local company Myson.

Home self builder Garry Watson has completed the underfloor heating installation for his new 4-storey 1250 m2 house in Low Fell, a suburb of Gateshead, with the help of local company Myson. Having sold his typesetting business The Setting Studio in 2000, he decided to build his own home. He started the project three years ago and hopes to complete the project by Christmas 2011.

In discussion with people who had done similar projects, Myson was repeatedly recommended. Garry Watson says, ‘Myson were just down the road and, from the first call, the service was excellent. Also, the Myson Floortec pre-formed plate system was so easy to use, and any time I needed guidance I was given it and even invited in for training.’

The house includes a basement pool, which can be viewed through glass flooring on the ground level, and a triple garage with granny flat/office above.

The system has been designed so that the underfloor heating can be served by a gas boiler or ground-source heat pumps.

‘This is the first time I have done anything like this,’ said Mr Watson, ‘It’s a bit ambitious for a first project of this kind, and I have hit a lot of problems, but the help I have received from Myson has made sure that heating isn’t one of them.’
