BSRIA completes new facility for carrying out acoustic tests

BSRIA has completed a new acoustic chamber for testing airborne nose of space-heating and cooling products. Acoustic testing is a requirement of EN 14511 and some incentive and quality schemes that call on EN12102:2008 for sound-power measurements. This applies to heat pumps, air conditioners, fan coils, liquid-chilling packages, dehumidifiers and other products for space heating and cooling.

The new reverberation chamber can simultaneously measure the thermal performance of products, helping manufacturers simplify and speed up the test process.

Rebecca Hogg, acoustic consultant with BSRIA, said, ‘The flexibility of the testing facility allows us to meet the specific needs of each individual client and supply them with reliable and relevant data, which in turn enables them to accurately inform their customers about the acoustic performance of their equipment.’
