Biomass power station gets the go-ahead

Consent for a 300 MW biomass-fuelled power station has been granted to Anglesey Aluminium Metal Renewables. It will be built at Penrhos Works, Holyhead. The operator is expected to source fuel from imported and local sources, with imports coming in through the Port of Holyhead.

More refrigerant bans possible, says government

The government could tighten up the rules that restrict the use of global warming refrigerant gases including speeding up phase-out programmes and introducing new bans, according to a spokesman from the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
