Distech launches new range of BACnet and LonWorks configurable controllers

Distech Controls has announced the launch of a new range of LonWorks and BACnet configurable controllers for terminal units and integrated room control. The RCL/RCB-PFC Series of microprocessor-based configurable controllers is designed to control a wide variety of HVAC equipment such as fan-coil units, chilled beams and chilled ceilings.

RCB-PFC controllers use the BACnet communication protocol and are BTL-listed as BACnet application-specific controllers.

The RCL-PFC controllers use the LonTalk communication protocol and are LonMark certified as SCC fan-coil controllers.

The capabilities of these controllers can be expanded with add-on modules for controlling lighting and sun blinds. The additional control is said to be capable of reducing energy consumption by up to 45% by integrating the control of HVAC, lighting and sun blinds.

They can be configured using LNS plug-ins or EN-NET AX based wizards that help reduce engineering time. Another feature is Open-to-Wireless support of wireless sensors that do not need batteries.

All these controllers work with a wide range of sensors, such as the Allure RS-Smart-Sense, a customisable communicating room sensor that features a colour TFT touchscreen and graphical menus. These sensors are used for measuring indoor temperatures, adjusting set points, selecting fan speed and occupancy-state over-ride — as well as controlling lighting and sun blinds.
