Purmo lends a helping hand to Children in Need

Radiator manufacturer Purmo came to the help of Children in Need by donating radiators to remedy the heating problem builders were faced with at The Yard in Edinburgh, a centre for children with special needs. The BBC’s ‘DIY SOS Big Build’ undertook the huge task of renovating the once run-down centre, which had been in danger of closing.

Purmo supplied 15 Compact type 33 radiators through William Wilson of Edinburgh. They were installed by TB Mackay Energy Services. These triple-panel radiators work on low-temperature heating systems.

The radiators had to be installed at high level in a 300 mm gap above the windows so they were out of reach of the children, as well as wheelchairs and ride-on toys.

The Yard has been running since 1986, and over 200 local tradesmen donated their time and skills to refurbish it.
