DECC reports on the first month of the Green Deal

The first full month of the Green Deal, to the end of February, saw the lodging of 1803 assessments, according to figures from the Department of Energy & Climate Change. In addition 77 Green-Deal assessor organisations and the 619 Green deal advisors they employ had been accredited. The month also say £26.9 million of contracts let through the Energy Companies Obligations brokerage system.

Edward Davey, Secretary of State at DECC, said, ‘We’re seeing clear signs of a promising new market gathering momentum. In little more than a month, there have been 1803 Green Deal assessments, and that shows genuine interest from consumers.’

The month also saw £244 million allocated to the Green Deal Finance Company.

What is not clear from the figures, however, is the impact of the scheme on the commercial market and how many householders have gone ahead.
