Rinnai ‘walks in’ to provide NHS with hot water

Rinnai, DHW, domestic hot water

Energy-efficient hot water for a series of walk-in NHS centres in the north of England is provided by Rinnai condensing continuous-flow water heaters. Adam Mitchell of AP Mitchell Building Services was approached by Norland Managed Services, provider of facilities-management services to Salford Primary Care Trust, to design and install hot-water systems for five new drop-in centres in the area in a £1 million contract.

Infinity HDC1500 and HDC1200 water heaters were installed. they use two heat exchangers to capture residual heat from flue gases to pre-heat incoming water. The temperature of the water is controlled to within ±1 K, even with water being drawn off at more than one outlet. Units operate on demand only.

They have a balanced flue, and a plume kit means there is no need to take the flue to the top of the building.
