Building centre enjoys benefits of updated boiler installation

From cast-iron to modern condensing boilers — Jacksons Building Centre in Grimsby.

Jacksons Building Centre in Grimsby is looking forward to lower heating bills following the installation of new boilers from Alpha Heating Innovation to replace 30-year-old cast-iron boilers. The decision was prompted by Des Read of Gaswise Heating Services when he was called out to service the old boilers, which he advised were at best only 60% efficient.

The new installation comprises two high-efficiency CD70S condensing boilers combined with Alpha’s cascade manager controls. The boiler plant room was moved to a more convenient location, enabling the work to begin before the old plant was removed.

The cascade manager alternates the lead boiler. Configuring and utilising the sequence control feature could reduce overall energy consumption by an additional 5 to 10 %. Weather compensation is also incorporated.
