Green subsidiary success — Andrew Dawson, director of Castle Green Services.

Castle Building Services, an independent building-services and design company, has launched a subsidiary company in response to the Government’s Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation (ECO). Called Castle Green Services, the company has secured a number of contracts with Green Deal provider Local Energy.

The team has installed boilers and other energy-saving measures such as loft insulation in over 3000 homes in the north east of England.

Andrew Dawson, who has been with Castle since 2010 and is director of Castle Green Services, said, ‘We took a risk as the outset, investing time and money to better understand the energy-efficiency market and the direction the Government and, to a certain extent, the general public, felt it was going to take.

‘While uptake of the Green Deal scheme was not as anticipated, due mainly to a lack of understanding by the man in the street, the ECO initiative was somewhat different, as people were benefiting from upgraded boilers and other energy-saving measures, courtesy of the energy companies.

‘The success of the subsidiary so far is based on our understanding and innovative approach to energy efficiency, coupled with our ability to deliver a high level of service to the client and provide back-up support where needed. I am confident we have launched Castle Green Services at the right time.’
