A warm welcome for travellers at Birmingham Coach Station

maintenance, refurbishment, Airbloc, air curtain

Boarding gates at Birmingham Coach Station, all eight of them, and two external entrances have Airbloc air curtains to keep cold air out while passengers are entering the building and boarding and leaving coaches. Formerly Digbeth Coach Station, this major coach interchange for destinations throughout the UK, as well as Belfast and Dublin, has recently undergone a £15 million refurbishment. It is now the headquarters of National Express.

The Airbloc air curtains are heated using LPHW. Their fans run on low speed when doors are closed. The fan speed rises when doors open. Heat output is controlled by a temperature sensor on each doorway.

The eight bespoke units for the boarding doors were powder coated to match the colour of the doors and made to the exact width of the door surround to give an impressive architectural effect.

The air curtains for the door entrances were also supplied in colour-matched finish.
