Gilberts delivers ventilation for Rolls Royce nuclear facility

Gilberts, Blackpool, natural ventilation

Gilberts of Blackpool has completed a major order to supply the Raynesway site of Rolls Royce with ventilation louvres and dampers, some up to 18 m long. They are for one of the site’s manufacturing buildings, and Gilberts undertook the project for Balfour Beatty Engineering Services and Virtus Consult.

The work is part of a £500 million investment by Rolls Royce in regenerating the site, which is home to its core nuclear-production capability.

The contract involved manufacturing and supplying WHK75 high-performance integrated louvres with VN75 dampers and 163 associated mounting frames. The louvres ranged in size from 11.6 by 4.7 m up to 18.8 by 4.1 m.

All Gilberts’ systems are engineered to order in the UK. The company has an 8000 m2 factory producing engineered solutions and an in-house test centre.
