NG Bailey completes services for Tottenham Court Road station
NG Bailey provided all M&E communications, fire and public-health services for the recently opened new Tottenham Court Road Station in London, part of the Crossrail project, in a contract valued at over £36 million.
Prior to NG Bailey’s initial appointment, the rail team developed an innovative M&E phasing solution that saved the client significant time and cost. The solution moved the planned Central Line closure to phase 2 and the installation of the new control room’s safety-critical systems such as lighting, CCTV, PA/VA and fire detection was carried out in phase 1. This approach meant that NG Bailey avoided running two (existing and new) control rooms concurrently in phase 2.
The team maintained the existing passenger-safety systems to keep the existing live station ticket hall operational as the new one, six times the size of the original, was being developed. The new systems underwent significant testing, and once phase 1 was completed, the existing systems were instantly removed.
