Full standby power to ensure that the main IT department of the University of East Anglia will continue to function during power failures has been supplied by Scorpion Power Systems. The company provided a complete turnkey solution — including consultancy, installation and commissioning. The IT centre is part of the university’s main administration. It controls corporate information and interoperability projects, student information, personnel and payroll, estate management and accounts and is regarded as mission critical. The Scorpion installation comprises a Powerhouse DI 500 kVA diesel generator installed in a steel bund to contain any diesel spillage. Special features include an externally mounted exhaust system, emergency stop button on the outside of the canopy and a fully automatic mains-failure control panel.
