Casino operator does not gamble on power-supply security
A Scorpion 556 kVA diesel generator is part of a total solution installed by Computer Power Protection to provide secure power supply for the refurbished headquarters of Stanley Leisure in Liverpool.
To meet the requirements of casino operator Stanley Leisure to protect critical power equipment in its refurbished headquarters in Liverpool against power outages, Computer Power Protection suggested an integrated package including both uninterruptible power supply and a Scorpion standby generator. The critical equipment includes computers and communications The installation comprises 3-phase UPS systems serving the ground and third floors supported by a 556 kVA diesel generator with automatic mains failure panel. Where a UPS is fitted, power passes through the AMF changeover panel and then on to the critical loads. The UPS does not supply heavy loads such as air conditioning and motors. In the event of a mains failure, such equipment will experience a break in supply of about 20 s before the generator starts and takes up these loads. Computer Power Protection has provided Stanley Leisure with a complete integrated solution including all electrical work and commissioning of the UPS and generator. The UPS and generator have been installed in a specially designed room on the ground floor. Security of service is ensure by the generators automatically being started each week. More recently, a 200 kVA diesel generator has been installed to support air conditioning in the computer room so as to prevent computer servers failing or switching off if the temperature rises too much.
