The show goes on with Keston behind the scenes
As smooth as a scene change at this London theatre staging the hit musical ‘Guys & Dolls’ was the replacement of boiler plant with a rig consisting of four condensing boilers built by Keston Boilers
To facilitate the rapid replacement of boiler plant at Piccadilly Theatre in London, Keston Boilers supplied a rig comprising four Keston C110 condensing boilers providing 440 kW of heat. As this major West End theatre was running the hit musical ‘Guys & Dolls’, it was essential that the changeover occurred with minimal disruption to performance and comfort of the audience and staff. Keston worked with LA Maintenance, which had been servicing the theatre’s aging heating plant for several years to make the changeover as smooth as possible. To aid this operation, the rig also included associated pipework and header that LA Maintenance could fit onto the existing main flow and return connections. The sequence controls of the boilers were prewired and ready to connect to the theatre’s existing control system. Lee Wilson, managing director of LA Maintenance, says, ‘Keston designs its boiler from a heating engineer’s perspective and, therefore, takes into account problems and complexities that may be encountered in the field. Its technical assistance is second to none and was invaluable in this instance where we needed to incorporate modern technology into an existing system.’
