Ductwork specialists mark ‘New beginning’ campaign

ADCAS
Joining forces to advance the interests of the ductwork industry — Paul Roxburgh of the Association of Ductwork Contractors & Allied Services and Cedric Sloan of FETA.
ADCAS, the Association of Ductwork Contractors & Allied Services, has embarked on a campaign to increases its influence and standing in the industry. The association’s president Paul Roxburgh explained to a general meeting how the ductwork industry’s trade body would be tackling issues ranging from unfair practices to the revision of ductwork standard DW/144. The meeting market the launch of ‘New beginning’, an ADCAS campaign to maximise the potential for growth and influence made possible by joining FETA (the Federation of Environmental Associations). He said, ‘We want to get back to the enthusiasm and drive that we all had when ADCAS was launched 10 years ago. At that time, both contractors and specialist suppliers felt that the ductwork industry was getting a raw deal. We’ve made some progress, but that deal could still be much better. With FETA in our corner, we’ll be taking the fight to the highest level — and punching the full weight of our multi-million-pound industry.’ Cedric Sloan, director general of FETA, spoke of the natural synergy with other FETA organisations representing complementary sections of the building-services industry. ‘Ductwork was really the missing piece of the jigsaw,’ he said. ‘FETA already works with other specialist manufacturing groups from controls to chillers. ADCAS will give us an important insight into the role of the ductwork maker. In return, we offer our industry-wide exchange of technical information and access to our network of influential contacts throughout Europe and the United States.’
