Ambi-Rad delivers comfort to market hall

Visitors and stall holders in the Grade 1 listed Pontefract Market Hall are enjoying the first effective heating in years following the installation of Ambi-Rad warm-air heaters, supplemented by Airbloc overdoor air curtains. The new equipment replaces an ineffective quartz electrical heating system. The 550 m2 hall has around 50 stalls. It is now heated by three gas-fired warm-air units mounted on the walls about 5 m above the floor. One unit delivers 100% fresh air, while the other two operate on air recirculation. The fresh-air unit can provide cooling in summer. Destratification fans in the roof force warm air back down to floor level for greater comfort and heating economy. The Airbloc AC air curtains deliver a sheet of air across the width of each door at sufficient velocity to exclude external air at wind speeds of 11 to 15 mph. Likewise, warm air does not escape when the doors are opened. Norfolk Property Services recommended the Ambi-Rad and Airbloc heaters to Wakefield Metropolitan District Council.
