Dunham Bush brings more effective heating to Coventry church

Variable-speed fans in fan convectors installed to provide space heating for St Luke’s Church at Holbrooks, Coventry, enable it to be brought up to temperature very quickly. The fans are then run at a lower speed to maintain the temperature and reduce noise levels. The 10 heaters are supplied by gas-fired condensing boilers and replace electric storage heaters. Energy consultant Dr Colin Bemrose specified these AM Series fan convectors for their performance, reliability and aesthetics. Warm air leaves the heaters from their base, which is useful in high buildings such as this church because it keeps the heat at low level and avoids uncomfortable blasts of heat at head level. Dr Bemrose explains, ‘Another useful features of these units for community buildings is that they are tamper-proof and they have a rounded grille, so there is no flat surface for people to place cups on.’ Heating can be programmed to come on a set time before planned activities. A manual over-ride can be used if required.
