Scorpion ensure continuous power for nursing home

The power supply for key services in a nursing home in Hampshire is guaranteed following the replacement of a small generator with limited functionality with an 80 kVA automatic mains-failure system from Scorpion. It provides an unbreakable supply to all electrical equipment in Gorselands Nursing Home in Ringwood — including medical apparatus, IT, Kitchen equipment, lighting, lifts and telephones. Supplied in a weatherproof and acoustic canopy, the diesel generator has been installed in a bund to retain any fuel spillage. It has a water-jacket heater to keep the engine warm for fast and efficient start-up and rapid load acceptance. The DI 88 generator is designed for the long-term protection of critical and sensitive equipment to protect against major electrical catastrophe. If the mains fails or goes out of acceptable limits, the AMF panel disconnects the mains supply, and critical loads are supported by the UPS with no break in supply. The generator is then automatically started and picks up the load after a preset time delay. The service by Scorpion Power Systems also includes a 6-monthly service visit and unlimited emergency call-outs. Gorselands was recently refurbished and now provides nursing care for 37 elderly people. It specialises in short- and long-term nursing, as well as convalescence and respite care.
