Weatherite chooses radiant heating for its new factory

Building-services manufacturer Weatherite has used Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tube heating in its new factory.

When Weatherite refurbished a former stockholding warehouse for stainless steel to manufacture air-handling units and air-conditioning equipment, it chose radiant-tube heating from Ambi-Rad. The requirements of the heating system were maximum flexibility and versatility for both current and future use of the building, zone and time control, and minimising heat losses through the three large roller-shutter doors. The requirements have been met by Nor-Ray-Vac continuous radiant tubes for this 9300 m2 building with a height of 11 m to the apex. A total of 37 burners with outputs from 24 to 38 kW were installed. The factory is divided into eight separately controlled heating areas. The temperature in each zone can be set according to the requirements of people working in that zone, or heating in individual unoccupied zones can be switched off. Jim Gale, managing director of Weatherite Manufacturing comments, ‘Ambi-Rad has supplied us with a first-class heating system to match our new manufacturing plant, and we are very pleased with the end result.’
