TraceTek leak detection chosen for Shanghai World Financial Centre

To avoid disruption caused by water leaks in the Shanghai World Financial Center, TraceTek leak detection systems are being installed throughout.

TraceTek systems for detecting water leaks are being installed throughout the Shanghai World Financial Center, one of the world’s tallest buildings. To prevent disruption to business continuity, water-sensing cables are being located in all sensitive areas such as data centres and computer rooms, and close to water services. This building is 492 m tall and has 101 floors above ground level. It has an area of 372 000 m2 and will provide prestige office space for world banks and financial institutions, a 180-room 5-star hotel, shopping mall, international conference facilities and observation deck. Johnson Controls is providing the integrated building-management systems, and part of this responsibility includes water-leak detection. The modular TraceTek sensor cable system provides high-integrity leak detection and precise location, provided by distributed rather than-single-point sensing. The installation is supported by a digital communication network for integrated into the building-management system. Some 4 km of water-sensing cable and 80 electronic control modules are being installed to safeguard data centres, computer rooms, air-conditioning plant, kitchens and a swimming pool.
