Simmtronic moves on to Cat B lighting controls for Broadgate development in City
Simmtronic is supplying addressable digital lighting-control schemes for incoming tenants for a major British Land development in the City of London. The company originally supplied electrical contractor T. Clarke Plc with lighting controls for the core areas of the Broadgate development, which comprises 201 Bishopsgate and the Broadgate Tower, which together provide 76 000 m2 of commercial office space.
84% of 201 Bishopsgate has already been let, with Henderson Global Investors and international law firm Mayer Brown taking significant space. Another law practice, Reed Smith, has taken 13 floors of the Broadgate Tower. Simmtronic has won the contracts to supply the lighting-control schemes for all these tenants using SPECS3 schemes.
The Henderson floors are mainly open space, with pockets of cellular offices, and Simmtronic is supplying SPECS3 lighting controls to CEL Building Services for the Cat B fit-out. All lights will have 1 to 10 V analogue dimming, with daylight linking on perimeter rows. Other features will include presence control and individual scene setting.
For Mayer Brown, Phoenix Electrical is installing lighting controls to the DALI protocol, including automatic monitoring of emergency fittings. Specified functions include presence detection and daylight linking.
For Reed Smith, the Simmtronic controls are being installed by Arena Electrical Services. On this DSI project, the cellular offices open-plan areas and corridors are presence-based. The cellular offices will also have manual switches. Perimeter rows of luminaires will have photocells to provide daylight linking.
