The ease of control made possible with a Delta BACnet touch-screen controller is expected to reduce the running costs of Crewe Hall by p to 25%.

The first installation of a Delta BACnet touch screen in the UK, is expected to reduce the running costs of Crewe Hall in Cheshire by up to 25% through its ease of use.

It was installed by Building Environment Control (BEC) as part of a £13.5 million enhancement programme that includes additional accommodation, leisure and conference facilities.

The DHMI touch-screen controller enables hotel staff to monitor and manage the building controls of all four conference suites in the new events centre, which can accommodate up to 370 people.

It is wall mounted and customised to display 3D animated graphics showing the HVAC system. Local users can view the current status of rooms, change occupancy schedules and adjust temperature setpoints.

Steve Murrell, maintenance manager at Crewe Hall, says, ‘The DHMI is easy to use and has saved us a great deal of time. Staff no longer need to run around adjusting the equipment in each room; it can all be done from one central location.

‘BEC has worked closely with our staff to show us how to operate the touch screen and make the most of its capabilities. This has helped to generate energy and cost savings, which have been made possible by programming accurate timings into the system to ensure it’s more energy efficient and not running 24/7.’

Since this project, BEC has installed over 20 DHMI units for other clients.
