IoR increases support for air-conditioning and heat-pump engineers

A new specialist group has been set up to offer independent technical information for people who install, service or maintain air-conditioning and heat-pump equipment. Called the Air Conditioning & Heat Pump Institute (ACHPI), it provides high-quality and reliable information about technical topics specifically for the air-conditioning sector.

It brings together the technical expertise of manufacturers’ support services with the experience of the Institute of Refrigeration (IoR) in providing practical guidance and keeping individuals up to date with good industry practice and standards.

Membership is free until March 2010 for those who join as founder members.

Major manufacturers and training providers have helped establish the ACHPI and will play an important role in its technical panel.

Jane Gartshore, president of the IoR, says, ‘The Institute of Refrigeration has traditionally been associated with the industrial and commercial refrigeration sector, and the formation of this new institute provides a clear message that the institute’s technical expertise is relevant to everyone.’
