MHS provides the interface between student accommodation and central CHP plant

MHS Boilers, thermal transfer units
The interface between this new student accommodation at Tottenham Hale in London and a centralised CHP system is provided by over 150 Nexus units from MHS Boilers.

MHS Boilers has supplied 155 of its Nexus district-heating units to new student accommodation at Tottenham Hale in London. Designed to achieve a BREEAM ‘Excellent’ rating and housing 687 students, the £53 million development was built by the Unite Group and forms part of the wider Hale Village regeneration scheme.

The Nexus units are connected to the on-site CHP plant. Four types of unit have been installed — a mixture of heating and hot-water units and hot-water-only units for the laundry areas. The heating-and hot-water units have higher-than-standard outputs of up to 75 kW. The laundry areas are served by units with outputs of up to 58 kW.

As the first development to complete on site at Hale Village, the accommodation is the first building to tap into on-site CHP for both hot water and electricity, significantly reducing CO2 emissions.

With the growing popularity of district, network or community heating systems, MHS Boilers has developed a range of heat interface units to provide the link between a community heating system and a dwelling or small business unit.
