Spectators are not the only fans at 2010 World Cup
A range of fans has been supplied by Air Movement Supplies, part of the Elta Group, for the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban, venue for the semi-final of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa. A mix of smoke ventilation and axial fans (with silencers) was supplied for ventilating the car parks and the plant room. Centrifugal fans for the Kruger range were installed as part of the stadium’s air-conditioning system.
The stadium will seat 70 000 spectators during the World Cup, reducing to 54 000 as a multi-purpose venue when a temporary third tier of seating is removed.
The arch across the stadium rises to 106 m above the pitch and has a funicular system to carry tourists to a viewing platform at its apex.
Those brave enough can even take to the world’s largest swing, falling towards the pitch before swinging in a 220 m arc.
