Priory Group has Shenton Group on permanent standby to deliver standby power

A quick response to prolonged power cuts in clinics and hospitals of The Priory Group is provided by Shenton Group.

The Priory Group has ensured that it will not face potential hazards caused by blackouts at its clinics and hospitals by contracting Shenton Group to provide emergency-generator cover, standby generators and maintenance. Priory Group is an independent provider of care for mental-health conditions, psychological and psychiatric services. Looking for a cost-effective means of providing its more vulnerable sites with standby power during a prolonged power cut, the group chose Powercall UK to serve a number of hospitals and clinics.

The initial contract for a hospital near Southampton was followed by 13 more for hospitals, care homes and schools. The sites are in areas that regularly suffer mains failures, and Powercall can supply generator from a local depot with a target delivery time of an hour and a maximum of three hours.

Support for sites at Eaglestone in Milton Keynes and Thornfield Park in Thatcham, Berks, is provided by diesel generators installed by Scorpion Power Systems. They provide a no-break power supply in the event of a mains failure. There are two 91 kVA diesel generators at Eaglestone and one 275 kVA unit at Thornfield Park. The contract includes maintenance at any hour of any day and remote monitoring via Merlin’s Hawkeye system and refuelling.
