CIBSE invites applications for Ken Dale travel bursary
CIBSE’s Ken Dale Travel Bursary for 2011 is now open for entries. Looking for building-services engineers who are interested in developing their careers and making a wider contribution to building-services engineers, the bursary offers the recipient the chance to travel and research areas that will benefit the industry.
Last year’s winner Rebecca Warren visited five countries in four weeks to find out about local energy choices. She met German farmers, Danish engineers, Swedish planner, Dutch ventilation manufactures and Flemish architects.
She says, ‘I came home with an even greater respect for my profession and with an understanding of the practical issues involved in getting carbon-reduction schemes, big and small, off the ground. I also developed a greater confidence in the knowledge I already have and a determination to put it into practice.”
The bursary makes awards to CIBSE members of £1500 to £4000. The closing date for entries is 28 February 2011. Details from www.cibse.org/bursaries.
