This new student accommodation in Manchester is the third project for Unite with M&S services provided by Shouksmiths and Morfitts.

Shouksmiths and Morfitts are delivering a £500 000 ‘complete-package’ building-services contract for student accommodation provider Unite at Arch Bar in Manchester. This is the third project the company has worked on for Unite [Morfitts is a trading division of Shouksmiths]. Previous projects are The Plaza and Concept House developments in Leeds.

This new 5-storey timber-framed building will provide 119 rooms for students at Manchester’s universities, parking and a cycle-storage area. Shouksmiths and Morfitts will install the full range of M& E services.

Paul Baldwin, divisional director of Morfitts, says, ‘Our “complete-package” service enables us to deliver a skilled and fully integrated team, providing one point of contact for the client and a seamless approach to the whole project. This, coupled with our experience on the two previous Unite projects and our positive attitude with all parties, including the main contractor and other sub-contractors, is proving invaluable to the successful completion of the Arch Bar contract.’

Shepherd Construction is the main contractor.
