Shenton supplies generator to meet peak loads at a factory

Shenton, standby power, generator
This ‘standby’ generator from Shenton Group eliminated the need for a costly substation at a factory to meet higher peak loads.

Faced with a potential bill in excess of £50 000 for an onsite electrical substation to meet greater demand from increasing production time from 12 to 24 h a day, Herrco Cosmetics approached Shenton Group to provide a bespoke generator to automatically manage peak loads. The bespoke generator for the factory at Halesworth, Suffolk, has an output of 138 kVA and a specially built control panel.

The generator is housed outside in a super-silent acoustic and weatherproof canopy on a concrete plinth. Shenton’s total solutions package included installation, testing and commissioning, and a regular maintenance programme and ongoing fuel-delivery service.

Shenton Group installed equipment to measure peak-load requirements before creating a tailor-made solution.

The generator synchronises with the mains, enabling it to monitor the factory’s power consumption and provide additional power during times of peak load. It can also provide standby during mains failures.
