Hilton Liverpool chooses Andrews Water Heaters

Hot water for this 215-bedroom in Liverpool is provided by six condensing water heaters from Andrews Water Heaters.

Andrews Water Heaters has supplied six SUPAflo condensing water heaters, each with a stainless-steel storage tanks, to provide domestic hot water for the Hilton Liverpool hotel. This 4-star hotel has 215 bedrooms and forms part of the Liverpool ONE development by Grosvenor, the largest mixed-use city-centre regeneration project in Europe. The building has a basement and 11 upper floors, with the hotel on levels one to eight.

Consultant Halcrow Yolles chose to separate DHW from space heating to improve energy efficiency by enabling heating boilers to operate at lower flow temperatures, particularly in milder weather. Efficiency is also improved by pre-heating cold water to the water heaters using heat from the CHP installation.

Four water heaters serve the guestroom and public areas. A separate system of two water heaters serves the restaurant’s kitchen area.

They were installed by Kier Build IME in a rooftop plantroom and connected to open flues. The plant room is reasonably close to the main high-level hot-water storage tanks. Distribution is via 29 vertical risers from roof to ground floor/basement, with about 20 000 m of DHW pipework throughout the building.

The units at Hilton Liverpool have a nominal output of 274 kW and a recovery rate of 4700 l/h through a temperature rise of 50 K. The comprehensive control panel indicates operational and lockout status and is connected to the BMS.
