Green innovators invited to apply for national green energy awards

National green energy awards scheme the Ashden Awards is seeking entries for its 2013 Awards, which this year for the first time are open to UK businesses that are innovating in products, technologies or services that are significantly reducing energy consumption or increasing the efficiency and effectiveness of energy generation in domestic or commercial buildings. In addition to prize money, Ashden offers winners a package of benefits and tailored support designed to help organisations scale up their work; a platform to promote their work; media materials and access to Ashden’s prestigious Alumni Network.

Willis Renewable Energy Systems won an Ashden Award in 2010 for developing a plumbing innovation that speeds up and simplifies the retrofitting of solar water heating in existing homes, so saving the cost and carbon impact of buying a new water tank.

More refrigerant bans possible, says government
