Npower helps refurbish Binswood Hall

From college to retirement village — Binswood Hall in Leamington will have services installed by Npower in a £1.4 million contract.

A £1.4 million contract to help convert the Grade 2 listed Binswood Hall in Leamington into luxury accommodation has been awarded to Npower Energy Services by Wates Construction. Npower will provide all mechanical, electrical, communications and public-health services for the 90-bedroom Binswood Hall Retirement Village.

Work has already begun on the first phase of the project to develop 30 apartments. The fitting out of each apartment will include luxury bathrooms and entertainment systems. Future work includes the installation by Npower of a building-management system to control heating, ventilation and hot- and cold-water services.

Paul Tudor, business-development manager with Npower, says, ‘The historic nature of the building and the special requirements of retirement villages make this an incredibly interesting project.’

Npower will also be fitting out the Victorian Gothic hall, which will form the centrepiece of the village, housing the Audley Club, which will include a restaurant, bar/bistro, library, swimming pool, and health and wellbeing centre.

Binswood Hall was formerly North Leamington College. The project is due for completion in October 2013.
