CentraLine celebrates its 10 year birthday

CentraLine, 10 years

In 2004 Honeywell launched CentraLine in Europe and the Middle East.

The introduction of a new channel identity to market its range of building controls through independent systems installers heralded a major strategic initiative to widen the industry access to Honeywell products.

The ‘Closer to You’ ethos of CentraLine by Honeywell embodies its philosophy of a mutually beneficial relationship between a manufacturer and independent companies who can provide advanced, economic and efficient systems for a wide range of building control applications.

In the last 10 years there have been significant changes as the industry embraced open protocols, Web access and user communications. Integration technology has been transformed from large ‘intelligent buildings’ incorporating propriety or bespoke systems to scalable applications with open-protocol interoperability and smart-device access.

Previously unviable installations in terms of integration and remote graphical access such as residential and small retail units are now becoming quite common, while large buildings, such as laboratories and museums, have benefited in terms of improved energy savings and flexibility of operation.

During this time CentraLine has taken a progressive role in the encouragement of new and existing systems installers to engage with open-protocol integration and the utilisation of the best available technology such as the Hawk integration controller.

Recognising that the Niagara Framework technology was ideally suited to its development and growth, CentraLine in the UK made a strategic commitment to focus on the marketing, training and technical support off the Hawk, Coach AX and Arena AX.

The CentraLine by Honeywell network has grown to over 150 Partners — ranging from small home-based system specialists to building-control companies operating internationally. This diversity of Partners mirrors the size and complexity of the projects addressed by the Hawk and the adaptability of Niagara technology to address wide variations in application engineering.

The success of CentraLine has been the result of three key initiatives.

• Unremitting commitment to training.

• Close engagement with specifiers.

• Most importantly, unwavering Partner support.

Over the last 10 years the theme ‘closer to you’ has reinforced the essential relationship between CentraLine and its Partners. The CentraLine City website is the information and communication centre for users, specifiers and Partners and is the foundation stone of CentraLine’s presence in the marketplace.

This CentraLine Bulletin, which has only been possible with the co-operation of Partners and their clients, has occupied the centre pages of this Modern Buildign Services since 2007. It recognises the need to provide a stable reference point for CentraLine products, projects and Partners and is a unique visible commitment to ensure we remain ‘close to you’.

Jim Sword Sales Manager CentraLine by Honeywell, comments, ‘The success of CentraLine by Honeywell has been both exciting and rewarding. Establishing a new presence in a competitive and mature market is always a challenge.

‘Although we have been fortunate that the economic difficulties have been balanced by our position as a leader in building-controls integration, our success is ultimately based on the goodwill and loyalty of our customers.

‘We would like to extend our appreciation to the UK building-control industry for welcoming and supporting CentraLine and look forward to our continuing relationship in the next 10 years.’
