Restoring fire integrity around electrical sockets in this hospital in Cramlington are Aico Firecap inserts.

Thousands of Firecap socket/switch inserts from Aico are being installed in a new hospital to maintain the fire integrity of wall partitions where holes for wall sockets have been cut. Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington is due to open in 2015.

7000 Firecap socket/switch inserts are initially being installed. They provide an effective fire-stopping seal for up to two hours and have been independently tested to BS EN 1364-1:1999.

These inserts can be used with metal and plastic single- and double-socket boxes in depths of 35 and 47 mm and do not require the use of adhesives. They replace plasterboard lining or putty pads.
