Vector luminaires provide lighting with magnitude and direction

A good mix of uplight and downlight in a refurbished office building in London is achieved using Whitecroft’s Vector fittings.

Whitecroft Lighting has supplied a range of luminaires, including direct/indirect Vector fittings and Mirage downlighters, for a refurbished office block in London. 121-141 Westbourne Terrace is a 5-storey, Grade 2 listed, mixed-tenant building new Paddington Station. There is a combination of large open plan, small open plan and cellular offices. They were originally lit using standard recessed module fluorescent luminaires and low-voltage downlighters. The new design combines low cost of ownership with a bright and cheerful ambience. Vector luminaires are used stand-alone in continuous runs to suit each space. They are fitted with single 54 W T5 linear fluorescent lamps to provide 70% downlight and 30% uplight to the ceiling. In smaller open-plan areas and cellular offices, Vector fittings are suspended in a mix of single or twin luminaires, with infill sections. In larger spaces, the luminaires are used in continuous runs, again with infills. Mirage downlighters using two 18 W compact fluorescent light sources are installed in circulation areas and above notional corridors in open-plan space. The Vector fittings are finished to match the colour of the office partition system.
