Sea Containers House refurbishment complete

Sea Containers House, Turner & Townsend

Turner & Townsend has competed project delivery for the £160 million refurbishment of Sea Containers House, one of the most prominent landmarks on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. T&T delivered full cost-management services. The building was fully let prior to practical completion, and the final account was achieved nine months before completion.

The development has a ‘Very Good’ BREEAM rating. It includes a cathedral reception space, ground-floor cafe area and roof terrace at the upper levels. Within the former car park, a 9-storey 8400 m2 office has been constructed, giving a total office space of 41 000 m2.

A 5-star hotel with 359 bedrooms has been opened by the Morgan Hotel Group, which will run it as part of the Mondrian brand — the first outside of the USA.
