LEDs boost lighting for swimming complex

Carbon8lighitng, lighting LEDs

Life Leisure’s Grand Central’s pool in Stockport has reduced its energy consumption and increased lighting levels following the installation of Carbon8Lighting’s LED Multifunction range. The aesthetics of the pool have been improved with better light quality and the addition of blue floodlights to enhance the colour of the water and make it more inviting.

Grand Central has Stockport’s only 50 m swimming pool and is home to the successful Stockport Metro swimming club.

The swimming complex includes an 8-lane pool and world-class diving facilities, both of which are used for training Olympic hopefuls.

24 Multifunction 210 W luminaires were installed above the main pool area, achieving the specified uniformity criteria with fewer fittings than had previously been required. Fewer fittings reduced capital expenditure and maintenance costs.

Other luminaires used for the project includes 16 Multifunction units of 180 W each and 16 Carbon8 80 W blue floodlights for accent lighting.
