G&H Fabrication speeds up M&E installation for University College

G&H, offsite manufacture

Specialist off-site fabrication halved the time to carry out elements of the M&E works for the new University Technology College 2 (UTC2) in Sheffield. G&H Fabrication took just two weeks to build, test, deliver and install most of the main plant room and plate exchanger — instead of four weeks if the work was carried out on site.

UTC2 was built on the Olympic Legacy Park in Don Valley.

James Sherburn, G&H fabrication manager, said, ‘Although significant, off-site fabrication is not just about speeding up the process. Fabrication in our sterile, controlled, indoor facility means we can increase productivity and quality, while maintaining a safe environment.

‘We delivered the pre-manufactured skid to the site when it was needed to minimise disruption and maximise efficiency.’
