LLoyds List enjoys the benefits of Toshiba VRF air conditioning

Delivering 21st-century comfort to the 30-year-old offices of the publisher of Lloyds List are four Toshiba VRF air-conditioning systems with a total cooling capacity of 200 kW.
Four VRF air-conditioning systems with a total cooling capacity of 200 kW have been installed at Informa Plc, which publishes the daily Lloyds List newspaper. There are four Toshiba R410A SMMS systems, one on each of three open-plan floors. They supply ducted indoor units in the ceiling. The fourth system supplies high-wall units and cassettes in the small number of separate offices and boardrooms. Supply air is tempered before it enters the system, and the ceiling voids act as return-air plena to provide an economic and efficient solution. Dave Green, Informa’s facilities manager, explains, ‘This building is now 30 years old and if we were to keep it we had to do something about the comfort levels. It is basically a glass-and-concrete box and gets very hot. ‘The Toshiba system has been beautifully and discreetly installed by Quantech and has made a huge difference. The quietness of the new technology is very important in the open-plan areas and the boardrooms. We are very pleased with it.’ Much of the classic teak-panelled interior has been retained, and work was carried out one floor at a time with the building still occupied. There was no choice about removing the recently renewed perimeter wet heating system, but the inverter-controlled VRF equipment provided the flexibility that Informa wanted.
