Advanced Electronics integrates fire safety for King’s Cross Underground station
Fire detection and smoke-damper control systems have been supplied for the redevelopment of King’s Cross St Pancras Underground station by Advanced Electronics
Intelligent panels for detecting fires and controlling smoke dampers have been supplied by Advanced Electronics for the first phase of the redevelopment of King’s Cross St Pancras Underground station in London. The fire-detection system uses 16 4-loop analogue addressable fire-alarm control panels interfaced to Hochiki fire sensors and loop devices. 12 smoke-damper control panels are used to control 140 dampers around the station. All 28 control panels can be networked using Advanced’s Ad-NeT network, which operates over 2-core fire-resistant cable to provide an integrated safety solution. The system was installed for Metronet Rail Group by Siemens Building Technology and interfaced to the station’s central SCADA system. Advanced also developed special damper interface units for this project. They are installed on the smoke-damper control panel loops and provide outputs to open or close dampers and inputs to monitor open, closed and fault conditions of the damper.
