Rhoss chillers and heat pumps have invertor-controlled scroll compressors

Rhoss modulating inverter chillers and heat pumps are claimed to use of to 15% less energy than standard on/off scroll systems. They are available in the UK through Rhoss’s exclusive distributor, Coolmation. These air-cooled chillers and heat pumps have a maximum cooling capacity of 48 kW at 90 Hz and modulate smoothly down to 19 kW at 35 Hz. Inverter control means that starting currents are very small. Chilled water can be delivered at temperatures from –10 to 20°C. Heat pumps can deliver hot water from 30 to 53°C. Smooth modulation of the compressor imposes much less mechanical stress than switching it on and off to match output to load.
