Daylighting system designed to maximise performance

The Solatube daylighting system from SolaLighting maximises the amount of light that can be collected and transmitted into the building with a Fresnel lens system, integral LightTracker reflector and internal reflective surface that absorbs only 0.3% at each reflection. Captured light is also focused down the reflective tube at the steepest possible angle to minimise reflective losses. The LightTracking reflector is said to be particularly reflective at capturing light when the Sun is low in the sky. Three sizes are available: 250 mm diameter for illuminating up to 13 m2; 350 mm for up to 22 m2 and 530 mm for up to 30 m2. Diffusers at the ceiling end of a Solatube distribute light evenly. These diffusers are double glazed to minimise heat gain or loss and block the transmission of virtually all ultra-violet. Options include integral electric lighting, a daylight dimmer to block out light and a bathroom ventilation system.
