Suffolk brewer demonstrates environmental responsibility

adnams
The sedum roof is the most visible sign of an environmentally conscious approach to the location and construction of this new Adnams distribution centre in Suffolk.
Not only has brewer and leisure retailer Adnams chosen a disused gravel pit as the site for its new distribution centre, but a wide range of environmental measures are incorporated into its construction. The site is on the outskirts of Southwold in Suffolk. The building has a living roof made of a blanket of sedum plant to create natural insulation, its walls are made from lime and locally grown hemp. Solar panels provide 80% of the hot water needed for the building, and reed beds purify wastewater to protect local wildlife. Rainwater is collected for washing vehicles.
