JET Environmental adopts AET underfloor air conditioning in new HQ for future flexibility

To provide the flexibility to respond to the air-conditioning requirements of future tenants, Jet Environmental has installed an AET Flexible Space System in its new headquarters.
To achieve maximum flexibility in providing air conditioning for future tenants in part of its new headquarters, Jet Environmental looked to Advanced Ergonomic Technologies for a solution. Jet Environmental specialises in induction solutions to provide climate control for large commercial buildings and volume pharmaceutical facilities where the quality of the environment is vital to a building’s function. Jet took the lead in designing and planning its new headquarters and placed major emphasis on reducing all-round energy usage and maximising flexibility of layout. The building includes 1450 m2 of AET’s Flexible Space System incorporating Hiross underfloor air conditioning serving three floors of office space geared towards short-term let. Robert Simpson, managing director of Jet, explains, ‘The building is divided over four floors, with rentable office space offered in sizes ranging from single occupancy to open plan. To keep up with tenant changes and office churn, the air conditioning had to be adaptable and not an obstacle. The solution with AET was to treat each floor as a separate zone, each with its own centrally controlled conditioned-air module. With conditioned air fed through moveable fan files above the floor void, maximum flexibility was achievable.’ The system is also design to provide free cooling using fresh air and overnight purge, which is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 23 t a year.
