Flakt develops mounting for high-efficiency motors

Flakt, fans

To enable foot-mounted IE2 motors to be mounted in fan casings and maintain high fan efficiency, Flakt has developed a new mounting configuration. Called Twist Wing, it will enable Flakt to replace traditional pad-mounted motors with IE2 motors as required by legislation coming into force in 2011.

The use of foot-mounted motors in fans up to 1000 mm has always reduced fan performance and efficiency as they create obstructions to smooth airflow and difficulties in maintaining critical dimensional aspects in assembly.

The concept is being developed for larger fans to protect customers from escalating costs associated with OEM pad-motor solutions.
