PM takes opportunity to see heat pumps in action

Dimplex, G5HP, heat pump

Prime Minister David Cameron gets a first-hand insight into the capabilities of heat pumps at Chipping Norton’s award-winning outdoor lido following a £140 000 grant-aided refurbishment This popular community facility in the heart of the Cotswolds is now operated as a charity with high-profile supporters — including TV presenter Jeremy Clarkson and David Cameron.

The refurbishment involved stripping out the plant room to install a Dimplex ground-source heat pump, UK water-treatment system and 60 solar PV panels to provide power and an income out of season.

The 45 kW heat pump was installed by Dimplex partner Ecovision and draws heat from nine 120 m-deep boreholes in the car park. Its electricity demand is offset by the Solar PV panels, which can generate up to 10 kW.
