SuperFLO delivers chilled water to data centre

Durapipe, SuperFlo
The light weight and ease of working of Durapipe’s SuperFLO were key reasons for installing it to transport chilled water in this data centre in Scotland.

Chilled water for air-conditioning units in the new £8 million office and data-centre development for ATOS Origin in Livingston is transported by Durapipe SuperFLO pipes in sizes up to 160 mm. Graham Dale of mechanical-services company G. Dale Ltd explains, ‘For this project we needed a system that could be easily and quickly installed due to the high level that the fitters would be working at. The low levels of preparation required with SuperFlo and its lightweight properties meant it was ideal for our needs.’

The new-build project will centralise many of ATOS Origin’s Scottish functions and comprises 3200 m2 of office space and 2000 m2 of data-centre.

The pipes transport chilled water from three external chillers to 12 indoor air-handling units.

Durapipe SuperFLO is specially designed for chilled or boosted cold-water building-services applications and has a 50-year design life.
